Physical geography is full of superlatives that depend entirely on how you choose to measure.

The Nile and the Amazon have swapped the title of longest river more than once, because the answer changes with the source you accept and how you handle a shifting delta. Mountains are worse: Everest is highest above sea level, Chimborazo’s summit is furthest from the centre of the planet thanks to the equatorial bulge, and Mauna Kea is tallest base-to-peak if you start at the seafloor. All three claims are true at once.
