Space questions are rarely about memory; they are about grasping distances that have no everyday equivalent.

Sunlight takes about eight minutes to reach us, so the Sun you see has already moved on. The next star along is more than four light years away, which means its light left before most news stories you remember. Those gaps explain why probes take years to arrive, why radio conversations with Mars rovers run on a delay of minutes, and why "nearby" in astronomy still means unreachable within a human lifetime.
